Jesse Johnson

Jesse Johnson is a photographer at BREAD, where he believes a single image can encapsulate an entire brand: its values, mission, purpose, all of it in one frame. That conviction is what makes his work distinctive: he doesn’t approach a shoot as a list of shots to capture, but as a search for the image that does the most work in the smallest space.

Jesse is self-taught, supported by an extensive network of mentors and collaborators, and has shot for regional papers, sports outlets, civic organizations, and numerous local institutions such as Tiger Rag, The Pine Belt News, Max Preps, Rivals.com, the City of Hattiesburg, Downtown Hattiesburg Association, Pinebelt Foundation, William Carey University, and many more. 

His path into photography matters here. Diagnosed early with ADD and dyslexia, he found that basic reading and writing were a real challenge. However, in photography, he discovered a different kind of language, one that let him express himself, tell stories, and connect with the people on the other side of his lens. At BREAD, that purpose has a home.

Outside the BREADquarters, Jesse watches sports of all kinds, advocates for Hattiesburg, and continues a long search for the next great bowl of pho.
